I Hugged My Baby Girl That Day

The DOMA decision

“Mama” was at work, and I was home watching the baby when I heard the news on CNN. I hugged my baby girl extra hard that day. And kissed her extra times. She doesn’t understand why yet, but in the eyes of the government, she’s no longer an “illegitimate child.” Now she is, as God made her, a legitimate daughter of two married mommies. And with the Supreme Court decision, we as a family became that much more “legitimate” on June 26, 2013. Changing laws doesn’t necessarily change hearts. But it sure is a step in the right direction. What an amazing week this has been for we who are Christians and gay. Thank you God, first and foremost, and thank you Supreme Court.

Mat 19:6 “Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.”
